Private Sale

For sale we have our 2006 56 plate Ace Capri 2 berth motorhome

25,200 miles so far from new.

An ideal first motorhome, and I say this as it's our first one.....and it's been ideal! We've had the van for 8 1/2years and can honestly say it's been great. The van was as it left the showroom when we bought it, and had only 1,800 miles on the clock.

We had the Fiamma 2 bike rack added, together with the Fiamma wind out canopy. Athough there is an aerial point and signal booster, together with a tv locker, there is no roof mounted aerial fitted, and we've never had a tv.

The van benefits from being upgraded to the higher capacity Ducato 15SWB chassis and 2.3JTD 110 hp engine (the standard is 2.0). This means a massive increase in user payload to 645kg (standard is 315kg, not great really). This is a rare upgrade so there aren't many of these vans with the load carrying capacity about. However, it's still rated at 3400kg so you can drive on a standard car license even if you passed your test after 1997.

Overall, the van is in very good condition based on it being nearly 10 years old, with an excellent interior (non smokers and no pets), with only a few minor cosmetic points which I'll describe as honestly as I can, and some of which are shown on the photos:

1) A small split in the surface of the worktop; this happened about about 2 months after we bought the van, and was caused by a tin falling out of the cupboard - we moved the tins after that!

2) A small crack and slightly deformed rear corner valance - caused by me on our very first outing reversing (slowly I may add!) into a small post on our campsite....I know how long the van is now!

3) Two light rust streaks from the high mounted stop lamp - probably from the fixing screws.

Bodily, all panels are in good condition, although the decals on the front door are faded. There are no cracks in the windows, and the rear entrance door benefits from a Fiamma security lock.

The interior is quite modern with the popular centre lounge, comprising two bench seats. These pull across the width of the van to make up a great double bed. Furthermore, the 2 cab seats both swivel giving extra lounging space, comfortably seating 6.

Over the cab there is a large locker ideal for storing bedding, together with two large side pockets, great for shoes. There are also two large lockers and a drinks cabinet on the nearside and the aforementioned tv locker and storage locker on the offside.

Both bench seats benefit from underseat storage, with the nearside one being accessible from the outside.

The table is stored in the wardrobe and takes seconds to put up, again providing plenty of space to eat.

In the bathroom, we have a Thetford cassette swivel bowl toilet, and a swing wall shower arrangement; this saves messing with shower curtains etc. There is also a generous locker, together with towel loop and loo roll holder.

The kitchen comprises a Stoves cooker with separate grill and oven. There are 3 gas rings and also an electric plate for when you're on mains hookup. The fridge is a Dometic unit, and is powered by either gas or electric, and also off the battery whilst driving. There is a small freezer box in the top of the fridge.

Heating is via a Truma dual fuel heater, providing blown air if required, and also hot water. All lighting is either 12 or 240v, and 12v is provided by a separate leisure battery.

All habitation windows are double glazed and have Seitz blinds and flyscreens. The cab has curtains for the side windows and a pull up blind for the front. We also have some silver screens which cover the cab screens for winter (included), keeping the van much warmer.

Gas provision is by 2 off 6kg bottles mounted in a nearside locker, and an electrically retractable step provides access to the habitation area - this retracts when you start the engine so you can't drive away with it out!

From a personal point of view, the van has been great; it's easy to drive and small enough to fit down quiet country lanes without having to panic if you need to reverse! We both run and cycle and so it's ideal for going to races and being able to have a shower in the warmth afterwards. You can also fit comfortably in a supermarket car park.....providing there's no height restriction!

This type of van my not be trendy as some of the "cooler" campervans, but they provide perfect accommodation for the typical British climate i.e. you can relax in the warmth, cook a meal, and go to loo / have a shower when it's pouring with rain without leaving your van - trust me it makes the difference between going away in rubbish weather and not!!!

We're selling purely because we want to upgrade, but are looking at identical layouts, so it works for us.

Now to some finer details:

• Although we have looked after the van as meticulously as we can, bear in mind it's nearly 10 years old, it's in very good condition, but it's not new, please don't expect it to be!

• There is no service history as far as stamps in the book go; however it has been serviced and MOT'd every September, and had a cambelt change 2 years ago.

• Again there is no habitation check history; all I can say is that everything works exactly as it should. There is no damp, leaks, mildew, funny smells! Any inspection is welcome.

• All four tyres were replaced 2 years ago, although the spare is the original.

• The van drives really well, with enough power to overtake if required and will comfortably sit at motorway speeds

• We get 28-30mpg - don't listen to folks who tell you 40mpg........I think they must get towed everywhere!

• If you want to drive the van, please ensure you have, and bring, and relevant insurance, although I'm happy to take you out - you won't be able to take it out without me!!

• No Canvassers or timewasters - unless you're willing to pay for the van!

• Payment via direct bank transfer or cash with proof of funds withdrawn. Only cleared funds will let you drive the van away!

Sensible offers considered

I hope that's enough information but please feel free to drop me any questions.
